APM Terminals commenced operations in Nigeria in March, 2006. Apapa is Nigeria's largest port and contains a number of wharfs. To date, the staff comprises over 700 highly skilled and motivated foreign and local staff. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the global team at APM Terminals Apapa and contribute to the success of the organization. The position reports to the Security Supervisor.


Key Accountabilities

  • Information Management. Ensure that all information received is logged and reported in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Manning of Security Equipment. Manning of Security equipment such as  CCTV, Biometrics, Master guard and other access control systems in a professional manner.
  • Take timely situation report and monitor patrol points of all patrol teams, gets feedback from them and document same.
  • Control and Supervision of security activities of contract staff within the terminal.
  • Definition of security needs of guards at various beats and enforce discipline.
  • General patrol of the terminal.
  • Spot inspection checks on all security activities in the terminal and adjoining areas.
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly report of activities of security interest.
  • Investigation of Security breaches and reporting same to the Supervisor.
  • Check on daily compliance level of the outsourced security.
  • Enforcement of company security rules and regulations.

Your Profile

  • University Degree
  • Requires two to four years of experience working in a similar role.
  • Must be skilled in operating and monitoring CCTV systems
  • Must have a general understanding of preventative security measures for buildings and port facilities
  • Requires an understanding of emergency response procedures and the ability to carry them out.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have some knowledge in investigative procedures and report-writing.
  • Requires the ability to communicate both in English & Pidgin English
  • Requires ability to remain calm, but able to direct others, in times of emergency.
