Corporate Governance Specialist |

Objective: |
Establish and confirm compliance with financial industry
standards for corporate governance compliance that reflect best practice
and minimise risk of corporate governance abuse and deterioration in
performance and safety of financial institutions |
Job Responsibilities: |
- Maintain and update the industry corporate governance code and compliance framework
- Develop corporate governance benchmarks relating to licensing and approval processes
- Review corporate governance compliance of individual
institutions against regulatory corporate governance code and determine
necessary regulatory action and decisions
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance codes and standards
- Provide input to and participate in confirmation process of
senior officers, shareholders, and members of boards of institutions
based on fitness and proprietary and record of corporate governance
compliance
- Liaise with the financial services industry and industry groups to promote corporate governance standards and compliance
- Participate in financial services industry and industry groups
knowledge sharing on corporate governance standards and industry
guidelines
- Develop policy and procedure recommendations for regulation on
Corporate Governance improvement in Banks and other financial
institutions
- Create assessment tools and methodologies to monitor compliance
with Principles of Corporate Governance and corresponding
recommendations
- Oversee research on comparative country Corporate Governance regimes
- Provide comparative reviews and update the Code of Ethics for Banks and other financial institutions
- Develop and provide assistance to deliver various training courses on corporate governance for the industry

Qualification: |
- First degree/HND in Law, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline
- A post graduate degree is an added advantage
- Membership of the following professional bodies is an added advantage: Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb)
- Possession of the following certifications is an added advantage: Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (CSA)

Experience: |
- Assistant Director: Minimum of 15 years relevant
experience in corporate governance. At least 5 years must have been
spent in a senior management position
- Principal Manager: Minimum of 12 years relevant experience in
corporate governance. At least 3 years must have been spent in a senior
management position
- Senior Manager: Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in
corporate governance. At least 3 years must have been spent in a
management position
- Manager: Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in corporate governance
- Not more than 50 years old
