APM Terminals commenced operations in Nigeria in March, 2006. Apapa is
Nigeria’s largest port and contains a number of wharfs. To date, the
staff comprises over 900 highly skilled and motivated foreign and local

management. We are currently looking for an individual who share our
commitment to providing services that are second-to-none.
This position ensures that highly disciplined planning and scheduling
system is in place which will bring value to APMTAL in areas of cost
control, manpower utilization, material resources planning and equipment
reliability. The position reports to Engineering GM
Key Accountabilities
Liaise between the Technical Department and Operations Department regarding all matters relevant to planned maintenance.
Receives approved work orders/work requests/reports from the requestor
departments, except for emergency work, which is given directly to the
appropriate area maintenance supervisor for immediate attention.
Monitor backlog of work orders a waiting scheduling in accordance with
their priority limits. Adjust priority in consultation with the relevant
section managers.
Attends the daily scheduling meeting and participates in the overall
scheduling of the following day’s work. Request assistance from the
General Manager Engineering when conflicts arise concerning resource
allocation to work load requirements.
Reviews completed work schedules and corresponding completed work plans
submitted by the area maintenance supervisors, ascertaining the degree
to which schedules are being complied with, significant details of such
compliance or lack of it, and the actual conformance to work order
estimates.
Maintains close contact with operations and Engineering Managers
concerning the areas for which he or she is responsible, consulting
those regarding facilities or equipment to be maintained. Makes
recommendations to operations concerning long range maintenance needs
and prepares a weekly forecast of major jobs expected to be scheduled
for the next 7 to 14 days.
Assists General Manager Engineering in analyzing cost and other data and
where necessary, recommends corrective action needed to reduce
maintenance cost.
Informs General Manager Engineering of abnormal or critical situations
and seeks advice on matters outside the Maintenance Planning Manager’s
expertise.
Ensures that equipment record files and equipment history files are Maintained
Maintains Warranty Register, issues Warranty Claims, returns warranty
material to the Warehouse for storage and updates paid claims in the
Register.
Provides accurate information and reports to General Manager Engineering.
Your Profile
University Bachelor degree as Mechanic al or Electrical engineering.
Additional training in maintenance planning is preferred
Additional training in managing people and processes is preferred
Code of practice
Experience
2-5 years experience as maintenance & repair planner/ Supervisor /
maintenance planning Manager in any ports, mines, steel and
manufacturing plants.
