Job Details

  • Coordination on all ICT activities with the Regional IT Systems Administrator. Coordinate with Office Manager and Country Director in identifying ICT needs and suggest solutions.
  • Maintain the current ICT system for the MC Nigeria office(s) and ensure the proper functioning of equipment and network to meet office needs and program demands in coordination with the Regional IT Systems Administrator.

Job Description

The ICT Systems Officer will be responsible for supporting all information and communications technology systems for MC Nigeria, including email, internet, network, wireless, mobile, and other ICT related systems. The ICT Systems Officer will be the primary administrator for all MC Nigeria ICT related accounts, managing relationships with necessary ICT system service providers, and training team members to use various ICT systems and adhere to IT policies and procedures. The ICT Systems Manager will also ensure MC Nigeria complies with all Mercy Corps IT policies and procedures and donor regulations. In the role as a support to the Program Department, the ICT Systems Officer will provide timely assistance to the Country Director and Program team to ensure that systems are used efficiently and effectively

Job Functions
  • Read and understand the Mercy Corps IT Systems Policy on appropriate use. Orient staff on appropriate use and monitor use activities to ensure adherence to these policies.
  • Conduct staff training on computer basics and the use of MS Office applications and networking. Assist, as needed, with developing databases or other windows application needs for program and operational staff;
  • Responsible use and confidentiality of any information identified as sensitive;
  • Regularly update anti-virus programs are ensure the entire network and computers are virus-free;
  • Assist the IT Systems Administrator in establishing a clear, back-up policy for MC Nigeria and undertake the necessary steps for this activity including designing a schedule and materials list. Ensure back up and archives are made and stored as scheduled;
  • Under the guidance of the IT Systems Administrator, undertake the repairing and maintaining of LAN-s, internet systems and general ICT maintenance and training for MC Nigeria office(s) – as per needs outlined by the Country Director and Office Manager.
  • Oversee repair of computers and ICT equipment, when possible - facilitate and advise on best, safest and most economic solutions in consultation with the IT Systems Administrator;
  • Maintain an efficient Local Area Network for MC Nigeria office(s). Work with IT Systems Administrator and Country Director to maintain design of configurations that are appropriate for the programmatic needs for MC Nigeria office(s) and any additions or changes require prior approval and planning.
  • Identify equipment and accessories required for the smooth functioning of computers and ICT equipment in MC Nigeria office(s). Facilitate the purchase of items through the procurement team.
  • Maintain the MC Nigeria mail server and assign addresses as instructed by IT Systems Administrator;
  • Assist in administration functions as needed; assist logistics staff in inventorying and tracking ICT assets.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all ICT equipment including; system profiles, warranties and ICT stock/accessories; Organize and maintain central filing system of satellite systems, if necessary;
  • Assist in the identifying specification, relocation and assembly of any equipment including computers, printers, accessories and satellite systems in MC Nigeria office(s), as required;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Previous work experience and knowledge of the local dialect is a must

Qualifications

  • A relevant university degree in computer sciences is desirable;
  • A minimum of 3 years applied work experience in information technology systems management;
  • Experience in both hardware and software requirements in local area networking (LAN); mobile technology, experience in the configuration of internal email system as per the local area networking (LAN);
  • Exclusive knowledge of internet, proxy, pop mail, and TCP/IP settings, Linux, windows and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience for upright maintenance of all internet account, Logins and account status; Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures,
  • Meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, plan and design low maintenance systems is a must.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and maintain both wireless and cable connections is required.
  • Must understand, follow and implement existing policies on ICT equipment use and best practices.
